Schools Mediation

In May 2008, Mediation Hertfordshire and Parentline Plus jointly secured a tender from Hertfordshire County Council's Children, Schools & Families to set up and run a mediation service for parents and schools, where bullying issues remained unresolved. The two organisations worked closely together to publicise this service within two areas of Hertfordshire and offered it from the beginning of the 2008 Autumn Term. Following a positive evaluation, the service was rolled out across the whole county from September 2009 and ran successfully until July 2010, having helped over 50 schools and families to address unresolved issues and support their childrens' schooling.

Hertfordshire County Council has had to make difficult decisions about continuation funding, and the outcome is that from September 2010 the service will be offered on a paid-for basis to Hertfordshire schools.  A leaflet containing information about the range of services on offer and associated costs is available from the office.
